Juliette Gordon Low dreamed of "something for all the
girls," and in 1912 she formed the first Girl Scout troop in Savannah,
Georgia. Nurtured by Juliette's personal gift -- she sold her necklace of
rare matched pearls for $8,000 to finance operations in the early days -- the
Girl Scout movement was well on its way to becoming the world's preeminent
organization for girls.
|
|
Following in her footsteps, the purpose of Homestead Council's
Juliette Low Society is to encourage major and planned gifts to support Girl
Scouting well into the future.

Juliette Low Society Event Celebrates
Philanthropy
The Juliette Low Society is Homestead Council’s major and
planned giving society. Donors were
recognized for annual gifts of $500 or more up to gifts at the $50,000 or
more level. Girl Scout donors from
throughout Homestead Council celebrated with a reception and dinner at the
Lincoln Country Club this past November thanks to an anonymous donor. Terry and Larry Nootz and Esther and DeLynn
Hay received their Juliette Low Society pins.
Both Terry and Esther are Homestead Council staff members. Terry is the Council’s registrar and office
manager and Esther is the adult development director. 2007
