Girl
Scouting has been an important part of my life. (Ruth) I was a Girl Scout as
a child and was a Girl Scout troop leader for over 35 years. Troop trips came to be an important
highlight early, sometimes being camping but often being traveling to a
special city or place. If money was a
problem, as it usually is, we would plan to use our cookie money and see what
else was needed. The girls learned
many skills planning and caring out these trips. We even went to Canada one year.

Because
of this experience, after retiring from leadership, we (Ruth and Norm)
decided to establish a fund to help troops succeed in being able to
travel. We established a Charitable
Lead Trust for the Council to distribute.
The funds they receive from the income is available to Girl Scouts
participating in travel through their Girl Scout Troop or through a Council
planned trip. Over the years, many
girls have been able to use these funds.
It makes both of us feel very good, knowing we have helped girls grow
through these trips. This was an easy
and painless way to put earned interest money to good use!
