CATRON-Camp and Retreat Center is a 67 acre property owned and operated by Girl Scouts-Homestead Council located near Nebraska City. CATRON features a range of camping options; lodge, platform tents, primitive camping. Catron is open year-round. The three tent sites are available April through October. Exact dates vary each year.
CATRON features a newly constructed lodge, a program center, a winterized cabin; Two (2) tent unit sites with platform tents and cots; one semi-primitive camp site suitable for pitching your own tent; a swimming pool, Walnut Creek for creeking, Sandy's Trail for hiking, sand volleyball, a soccer field, basketball court, a private program deck overlooking Walnut Creek and The Challenge Course.
Kimmel Lodge: Features three (3) program rooms, a completely furnished commercial kitchen and a smaller completely furnished residential kitchen. A deck is accessible from all the program rooms. Three (3)-sleeping areas on the lower level each have a capacity to sleep 24. A smaller sleeping room is available which will sleep four persons. Bunk beds and mattresses are provided for sleeping in each room. A shower and toilet area is attached to each sleeping room. An outdoor covered program area extends from each sleeping area. TV/VCR(s), sound equipment and tape players are available by request on your reservation form or at the front desk. An indoor and outdoor fireplace is available, as are outdoor fire rings. A laundry area is provided for emergency washing and is located in the utility room on the main floor.

Ten Oaks Cabin: Caretaker residence.

Tent Unit Sites: Each site has hot/cold water, shower and toilet facilities, refrigerator, an outdoor cooking shelter with cold water, a campfire ring, cooking pots and buckets.

Sherwood Forest: Has a shelter with a wood cook stove and a sink with cold water. This is the most convenient site and easiest to use by less experienced campers. Campers sleep in platform tents.
Indian Village: Is across the footbridge. Supplies must be carried in to this site. A small fireplace is located in the shelter for cooking (no cook stove) and a sink with cold water. Camping at this site requires more planning and prior camping experience on the part of the adults in charge. Campers sleep in platform tents.
Trails End: Is our current site for our Circle C horse stable used during resident camp.

Program Center: This building with its rustic charm is available for program activities for day use only. It has a fireplace, tables and chairs, two bathrooms, refrigerator, and microwave. This is an excellent building for craft activities.

Sports: CATRON offers sand volleyball, basketball and soccer. A new archery target course has been added at Sacajewea.

Program Opportunities: Day Events are offered during the summer months, and have included The Challenge Course, Water Fun, Outdoor Adventure and Sample CATRON. Resident Camps for Girls Only entering 5,6, 7th grade and Girls Only entering 8-12th Grades are offered in the summer. Each camp session is one week with the campers staying in the lodge, in platform tents and creating their own tent site. Side trips away from CATRON may also be included.

Weekend day events are designed for Troops at CATRON in the Lodge during the school year. These events are a great way to experience the out-of-doors during the day. Girl Scouts complete and earn a badge during each event. Troops may reserve a sleeping area prior to or following the event for an overnight experience.

While CATRON exists as a Girl Scout camp and its primary purpose is to offer quality programming to Girl Scouts, other groups may reserve CATRON for Day / Evening Meetings, Weekend/Week long Retreats, Church Functions, Family Reunions, Class Reunions, Weddings, Wedding Receptions, Graduation Parties, Office / Corporation Parties, Holiday Activities. The Challenge Course may be reserved by any group of ten people ages 6 and above. The swimming pool may be reserved on an hourly basis.
